PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A woman was shot in the chest inside Kennywood Park Saturday night.
Police say the 26-year-old woman was still inside the park, but was shot from outside. Police were very clear the shooting did not happen inside the park itself.
“There are no indications there was a gunshot within the park itself,” a statement from the county said. “None of the witnesses reported hearing or seeing a gunshot and, as of this time, there is no video showing any gunfire.”
The woman was shot in the chest, near the shoulder and taken to the hospital. She is currently in stable condition.
After the shooting, police rushed to the scene and Kennywood was put on a lockdown for a period of time.
It’s unclear who the shooter was, it was first believed it could have been a drive-by shooting.
Police say they are also considering the possibility the gunfire came from a nearby Fourth of July celebration.
It’s not believed the woman was targeted.
Police are continuing to investigate.
No word on the woman’s identity.
