PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Pittsburgh celebrated America’s birthday with a Zambelli fireworks show at the Point Thursday night.
People watched from Point State Park, the North Shore, Mt. Washington, the West End and a variety of other locations.
The show lasted for 24 minutes, with a spectacular finale that was loud enough to be heard inside Downtown office buildings.
The fireworks topped off a day long celebration at the EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta.
With everything from powerboat races, to funnel cakes, to dogs doing tricks, to musical groups, there was a lot going on. But in addition to all that, it was a day for red, white and blue and patriotic pride.
James Bruno is a retired New York City fireman who went through the experience of Sept. 11.
He says he knows what it means when this country rallies together, and he says when he watches the fireworks, he thinks about how proud he is to be an American.
